Many people flock to the southern states to avoid the biting cold season. While some may vacation for only a few days, there are also a lot of travelers who spend the entire winter season down south. A favorite city to experience a mildly cool weather is Tampa, Florida. Besides the laidback atmosphere, the city is teeming with a vibrant arts scene and alluring attractions.

The Tampa Bay Area is also easily accessible via public transport. Straz Center for the Performing Arts (0.6 miles)

Visit the second largest performing arts center in the Southeastern United States, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. The Center is situated on a 9-acre site along the Hillsborough River in Downtown Tampa. Inside the 335,000-square foot complex are five performance halls, a rehearsal hall, retail shops, restaurants, and banquet facilities. Visit the enormous 2,600-seater Carol Morsani Hall, which is the centerpiece of the complex. It has accommodated major Broadway musicals, operas, ballets, and concerts.

Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo (3.7 miles)

Lowry Park Zoo is a 56-acre zoo located in Tampa, Florida. It was voted number one Family Friendly Zoo in the US by Child Magazine and Best Zoo in the US according to Parents Magazine. There are over 2000 animals at the park in its seven primary exhibits consisting of Asian Gardens, Florida Manatee & Aquatic Center, Florida Boardwalk, Wallaroo Station, Aviaries, Safari Africa & Ituri Forrest, and Primate World. Bring your kids’ swimsuits if the sun’s heat get too much and let them have splashing fun at the Manatee Fountains near the Zoo’s main entrance and the Billabong Fountains in Wallaroo Station.

International Plaza and Bay Street (3.7 miles)

Next to the Tampa International Airport is one of the most prominent shopping and dining destination in Florida’s West Coast. Avid shoppers will love to explore their three fashionable department stores and more than 200 specialty shops, including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Burberry. Eat your heart out at one of the mall’s 15 restaurants, such as California Pizza Kitchen, The Cheesecake Factory, and Godiva Chocolatier to name a few.
